China Gourmet Trip (4) - 9/24 Shanghai 上海

Monday, September 24, 2007, the rest of our travel companions were due to arrive Shanghai by evening and we would have dinner together to form our group officially. In the morning, Shirley and I moved out of Jennifer's apartment and checked into the Howard Johnson Full Suites Hotel. All the rooms in this hotel are nicely decorated suites, we were very pleased with our room.
Our next stop was going for lunch at the famous Nan-Xian Steamed Buns shop located at Yuyuan. 【上海豫園介紹】「豫園」是上海市區唯一留存完好的江南古典園林,始建於明嘉靖三十八年,距今已有四百餘年歷史,佔地三十餘畝,規模宏偉,被譽為「東南名園冠」,是明代四川布政使上海人潘允端為了侍奉他的父親而建造的,取『豫悅老親』之意,故名為「豫園」。「豫園」從明嘉靖三十八年開始興建,共用了十八年時間才完成。「豫園」與「豫園商場」結合,是上海第一等觀光勝地,「老城隍廟」、「湖心亭」、「沉香閣」等名勝古蹟和人文景觀完美地融為一體,豐厚的文化底蘊、濃郁的民俗風情、鮮明的特色使「豫園商業旅遊區」成為全上海最中國的地方而享譽中外。
But first, we went to search for a little food stand in Yuyuan that Miao told us served "the best vegetarian bun" she'd ever tasted. We got in line there and bought one bun each for taste. 「豫園」裡面大名鼎鼎的「南翔小籠包」是最具上海特色的小吃之一,許多人到上海旅遊時都會慕名到當地食肆品嘗。老城隍廟九曲橋邊的「南翔饅頭店」是上海老字號的麵點店,那裡的蟹粉和鮮肉小籠包有數十年的好口碑,每天食客人山人海,要排很長的隊才能吃到呢!
南翔消費是分級制的,外帶最便宜,在一樓窗口買票再領貨,自己找地方吃去。上樓又分三級,,二樓貴一點,三樓再分兩級,每上一級價格就高一點。但好處就是每升一級,嗷嗷待哺的客人就少一點,進餐空間也舒服一點,而主角--小籠包的品質也更好一點,絕對有差別。我們為了省時間避免排長龍,就選擇上三樓廂房,最低消費人民幣120元,果然幽靜舒適,沒有嘈雜,絕對值得。
After lunch, we went for our last shopping spree in Shanghai at Nanjing Xi Road. Finally, I found a few nice Chinese designer clothing for both my sister and me 坐落在上海最繁華的南京西路黃金地段的恆隆廣場、與周邊的中信泰富廣場、梅龍鎮廣場及上海商城交相輝映,形成上海獨特的高級商務購物區風貌。
Around 4:30 PM, we went back to our hotel to freshen up. At 6:00 PM, we took the Metro Subway to Pudong for the First Dinner with our Travel Group and began our Gourmet Trip officially.
